International Journal of Bank Marketing, 28(4), 267-287. Abstract Awareness
of Microfinance within the Central Region, Malaysia Song,Kuok Thong, Cheah,Sin Chye,
Wong,Siew Fong. 2013 The
Malaysia government had been using the microfinance as one of tools to
achieve its mission to reduce poverty and achieve a high-income
status by 2020. Three (3) steps taken by Bank Negara Malaysia
(BNM) to create a sustainable microfinance industry: Encourage financial
institutions to provide
microfinance; Design right product to meet the needs of micro enterprises and
create widespread awareness on the availability and
benefits of microfinance. However, it was reported that the
effectiveness of promotional efforts to raise public awareness of the
availability of microfinance is an issue to be looked into. As such, this
study was to examine the awareness of microfinance programme
among the micro enterprise in Malaysia.
By determining the current awareness level of micro enterprise in
Malaysia, the study zoomed in and focused on studying the determinants that
influencing awareness from the micro enterprise dimension. The
contribution made by this study is to improve understanding and
awareness level of micro enterprise that people will know the availability of
microfinance that can assist them to start their micro business.

Publicly-listed Corporations in Malaysia Ng,Sin Huei, Shrives, Philip, Yeoh, Ken Kyid. 2013 This paper
attempts to examine the potential occurrence of profit redistribution in
family-controlled business groups in Malaysia. It is argued
that there exists a tendency for business groups with extensive
family ownership and control to redistribute resources from group affiliates
that outperformed to affiliates that underperformed.
This phenomenon is prevalent particularly in large business groups where the link between
business groups and politics is most clearly displayed. Such ‘propping
up’ activities are believed to adversely affect the shareholders of the
outperforming affiliates as the performance of these affiliates
diminishes due to the profit redistribution. They also result in inefficient
allocation of resources within the business group, though it is found that
higher board independence may reduce such inefficiency. Source : http://www.virtusinterpress.org/-Corporate-Ownership-and-Control-.html

the entrepreneurial attitudes of Malaysian secondary school students Lope
Pihie, Z.A., Bagheri, A.,
Abdullah Sani,
Z.H. (2009) Abstract: Attitude as one of the most
influential factors affecting entrepreneurial learning and behaviour has been under investigation to recognize how
it can be improved through educational interventions. A study was conducted
to determine the entrepreneurial attitude of 3,000 secondary school students
in Malaysia. Findings indicate that students scored high on self-esteem
cognition, achievement cognition, and achievement affect, but students had
low mean scores in self-esteem behaviour, personal
control affect and self-esteem affect. Moreover, there is no significant
difference between the students’ ethnic groups in terms of their self-esteem behaviour. This paper discusses that entrepreneurial
attitude can be developed through proper learning exposure and entrepreneurship
education opportunities. It also presents the implications of the study to
improve the Malaysian education system and entrepreneurial attitude of
students during the critical years of secondary school Keywords:

university students: Implications for improving entrepreneurial learning
paradigm, Pihie, Z.A.L., Bagheri, A., Sani, Z.H.A. (2009) Abstract: Learning is
considered central in the process of entrepreneurial development. Learning
styles play an important role in learning entrepreneurship at university. The
main purpose of this study was to determine the university students’ learning
styles as a whole and in particular, the preferred learning styles of the
students who had taken entrepreneurship related courses. A total of 1,554
university students from three research universities in Malaysia were
selected as respondents of the study. The findings showed that university
students preferred active, sensing, visual and sequential learning styles
compared to reflective, intuitive, verbal, and global learning styles. The
findings may guide policy makers, educators and lecturers at universities to
understand how students learn and thus, provide facilities and instructional
activities to foster entrepreneurial learning. This paper also presents
suggestions towards improving entrepreneurial learning paradigm. Keywords: Learning Style,

advantage: A review and research agenda Chong, S.T., Ooi, K.B., Chong,
A.Y.L., Tan, B.I. (2009) Abstract: The purpose of
this paper is to develop a conceptual model that can be used in supporting
the association between the many facets of total quality management (TQM)
practices and its impact on competitive advantage. The theories of TQM and
competitive advantage serve as the theoretical foundation to build up the
conceptual model. This proposed conceptual framework could provide valuable
knowledge to top management in the organizations to improve their quality
management practices and subsequently achieving competitive advantage. Keywords: Business,

the adoption level of c-commerce: An empirical study Chong, A.Y.-L., Lin, B., Ooi, K.-B.,
Raman, M. (2009) Abstract: The major objective of
this paper is to examine the determinants of collaborative commerce
(c-commerce) adoption with special emphasis on Electrical and Electronic
organizations in Malaysia. Original research using a self-administered
questionnaire was distributed to 400 Malaysian organizations. Out of the 400
questionnaires posted, 109 usable questionnaires were returned, yielding a
response rate of 27.25%. Data were analysed by
using correlation and multiple regression analysis. External environment, organization
readiness and information sharing culture were found to be significant in
affecting organizations decision to adopt c-commerce. Information sharing
culture factor was found to have the strongest influence on the adoption of
c-commerce, followed by organization readiness and external environment.
Contrary to other technology adoption studies, this research found that
innovation attributes have no significant influence on the adoption of
c-commerce. In terms of theoretical contributions, this study has extended
previous researches conducted in western countries and provides great
potential by advancing the understanding between the association of adoption
factors and c-commerce adoption level. This research show that adoption
studies could move beyond studying the factors based on traditional adoption
models. Organizations planning to adopt c-commerce would also be able to
applied strategies based on the findings from this research. Keywords: Collaborative Commerce,

(2008) Abstract: Data from a
questionnaire survey covering 149 electronics and electrical manufacturing
companies in Malaysia are used to identify the factors influencing the design
and use of performance measurement systems (PMSs). Factor analysis identified
organizations’ contextual factors as potential contingency variables that
include: (1) two dimensions of organisational
profile—company size and ownership types; (2) four dimensions of organisational culture—knowledge and innovation, learning
culture, absorptive capability and employee’s understanding and learning; (3)
four dimensions of organisation
strategy—stakeholder focus, pricing and distribution, marketing segmentation
and growth; and (4) four dimensions of technology—information technology and customisation, volume and variety of product and process,
information and technological advancement, and product complexity. Keywords: Performance Measurement

the adoption of e-commerce: A study of the textile industry in Wujin, China Chong, A.Y.L., Ooi, K.B., Tak, Y.K., ShuYang, Z. (2009) Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to examine the factors that influence
the adoption of e-commerce with emphasis on textile companies in WuJin, China. The factors are organizational readiness,
innovation characteristics, government influence and culture. Binary logistic
regression was applied to test the research model. The result shows that
organizational readiness, innovation characteristics and culture influence
the adoption of e-commerce among textile companies in WuJin.
As China's culture is different from many western countries, it is found that
relationships between organizations, or GuanXi as
it is commonly known in China, needs to be established before organizations
collaborating with each other are willing to adopt e-commerce. The findings
of this study are useful for the Malaysian companies who are interested to
adopt e-commerce with their business partners in China. Lin, B. (2010) Abstract: The purpose of this
study is to analyse the factors influencing the
usage of 3G technology in Malaysia. By extending the Technology Acceptance
Model (TAM) and Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) model, this study found that
perceived advantages, perceived ease of use, variety of service and social
influence are able to predict the adoption of 3G among Malaysian consumers.
This study allows 3G service providers to understand which factors influenced
the usage of 3G in Malaysia. Other developing countries that plan to deploy
3G can also formulate business strategies using the results from this study. Keywords: 3G services, Malaysia, technology adoption

A.Y.-L.,
Ooi,
K.-B., Lin, B., Teh, P.-L. (2010) Abstract: This article
discusses the influence of total quality management (TQM) and knowledge
management (KM) on collaborative commerce (c-commerce) adoption. An extensive
review of literature was carried out to develop an integrated model of TQM
and KM to examine the influence of TQM and KM on c-commerce adoption. The
findings provide a basis for developing a model to advance the TQM, KM and
innovation adoption research literature. This study proposes a new integrated
model which includes practices from both TQM and KM theories to examine if
these practices will result in an improvement in the adoption of c-commerce. Organisations intending to adopt or increase the level of
adoption of c-commerce will be able to make managerial decisions based on TQM
and KM practices from this research. The study makes a significant
contribution by combining TQM and KM models as a methodological example which
is useful for practitioners to track the degree of TQM and KM effects on
c-commerce adoption. This model can be used by companies to do a pre-test
baseline measurement, and then periodically reassess the effects of any TQM
and KM change. Keywords: Total quality management, knowledge

practices and product innovation Lee,
V.-H., Ooi, K.-B., Tan, B.-I., Chong, A.Y.-L. (2010) Abstract: The purpose of this
paper is to examine the relationship between total quality management (TQM)
practices and product innovation performance as perceived by managers in
electrical and electronics (E&E) organizations in Malaysia. This study is
based on empirical data collected from a survey of 125 managers of E&E firms.
Structural equation modeling analysis is conducted to test the research
questions presented in this paper. Results reveal that leadership, strategic
planning, customer focus, information and analysis, human resource
management, and process management are positively associated with product
innovation performance. Information and analysis is perceived as a dominant
TQM practice in improving firm's performance on product innovation. This
analysis is especially vital for senior managers of E&E companies who
want to establish innovation capability. Senior managers can focus their
efforts on TQM practices as means of maximizing organizational gains via
product innovation in the context of a competitive environment. Keywords: TQM, product innovation performance,
