ABSTRACT

Ground improvements have emerged as a major discipline in civil and environment engineering. This field has interested the scientists and engineers from all around the world. Their interest are mainly to invent new methods for ground improvement to solve problem in soil in more simple ways and also more economical justify. Because of their interest in inventing new methods and their efforts spent in researches, and experiments, the ground improvements is undergo rapid advancement from day to day.

The ground improvements have been applied to problem soil since the ancient time. For instance, the pyramids of Sheet in Tibet were built using compacted clay and lime. China and India have used lime stabilization in various ways through their long history. Till today, the materials or equipments use in this field is for more advance and more durable, such as the geosynthetics materials install in the soil and the rollers for compaction. By using all these high technology equipment has become simpler to apply and maintained.

In this project the different types of ground improvement methods have been chose to discuss. Each method is suitable for different properties of bad soil and also has adequate performance to improve the soil. However the main objective of ground improvement is an alternative to provide a structural solution the undesirable soil.
