A DESIGN OF FIRE STATION

ABSTRACT

Each of the at last semester student of Diploma in Engineering must dealing a final project. And my project title is “ A Design of Fire Station”. The fire station that design for is not much different with other normal building. But several item need to be considering when design a fire station.

1. Ample space is need to permit work around the apparatus, changing of hose, putting on fire clothing when responding.

2. Watch room should be so located that the man on patrol can see the apparatus floor, observe all persons entering building.

3. The ramp in front of station should be so large enough to permit washing of apparatus and safe entry of vehicles into traffic.

4. Door for fire apparatus should be large enough to allow quick passage with out accident, at least 4.2m x 4.2m.

5. Should have apparatus in the first-line piece and second line, which mean, in front and rear of fire station repetitively should have door for fire engine moving out.

6. Fire station should be architecturally attractive and conform to architectural style of the neighborhood.

7. The fire alarm should be of fire-resistive construction and isolated from all hazards that might interfere with the prompt transmission of alarms.

8. Ample emergency power should be provided so that the fire station and communications equipment can continue to operate should outside power fail.
