THE DESIGN OF A FABRIC STRUCTURE TO COVER THE OLYMPIC SIZED SWIMMING POOL AT INTI COLLEGE MALAYSIA

ABSTRACT

The project that I am doing for my final semester is the design of a fabric structure to cover the Olympic size swimming pool at Inti College Malaysia. The purpose of this structure is provide shade, prevent evaporation of water, [provide weather resistance and also protection against acid rain.

I would like to give you a brief on my project. The structure that I design is consider a Fabric structure. It consist of fabric, cable and CHS steel. It is a new technology in civil engineering. As we know, fabric technology is becoming more and more popular in our country, especially in sport arena. For example, our Bukit Jalil Aquatic stadium and Sepang Formula 1 circuit spectator stand is using this type of structure. So, it is suitable to cover our college by using this structure.

This structure is a trendy structure. Its’ external appearance is ultra modern and is suitable for our college that have a modern campus excelling to the next millennium. It look so fragile that may be blow away by wind but it is actually a strong structure that can resist wind velocity up to 30m/s.
