ABSTRACT

This project is about analysis and discussion in stability of gravity dams. There are two methods to analyse the stability of gravity dam: static method and finite element method. In the contents, I only discussed about static method because finite element method is a sophisticated mathematics calculation. Furthermore, forces acting on the gravity dams and factor of safety are also discussed in the paper. Then, I will look at the causes of cracking and temperature control of the gravity dam.
