RESEARCH AND DESIGN FOR FLEXIBLE HIGHWAY PAVEMENT

ABSTRACT

This project report is based on research and design that I have been working for this semester. The title of the project is Research and Design for Flexible Highway Pavement. This report consists of few section excluded the list of references and appendix.

Section 1.0 consists of introduction, which briefly discuss on the type of pavement and their structure.

In section 2.0 is the research on the flexible highway pavement, which consists of two sub-sections. Section 2.1 will study on the research on the types of component of the pavement, which will study on the component of the flexible pavement structure, and there are Subgrade, Subbase Course and Surface Course. The next sub-section is section 2.2 where the analysis on the structure and use of element in pavement come in. In this section will be looking at the function of the element will be considering the three main layers, which have mention early on. Section 2.3 shows the sectional view of the element of flexible pavement structure and it consists two types, which have been classified by AASHTO and BS code.

Section 3.0 is the research on the mode of failure for the pavement where consists of two types of failure and that is Failure of the surfacing and Failure of layer.

In section 4.0 is the design for flexible highway pavement which will 8 sub-section and there are Highway classification, Pavement performance, traffic flow prediction, Roadbed soil, Materials of construction, Enviroment consideration and reliability, Structure design and Final results for the pavement structure.
