TO CHECK ON THE FACTOR OF SAFETY AND THE ‘ABILITY’ OF THE BOX GIRDER OF LRT BRIDGES

ABSTRACT

 

            The Klang Valley, commomly know as the Malaysia most growing region, with the economical expansion rate every day massive jams to reach the office tower of the business city centre. To harmonize the large and green cosmopolitan city, the ministry of transport is planning to build, before 1998, more than 50 KM of LRTs.

 

            There are several LRT project that have been built and some of them is still under construction, for instant the KL LRT (star), Putra LRT (2), which links KL to Subang Jaya, KL (People mover rapid transit), KTM KOMUTER and ERL (Express Rail Link).

 

            The Bandar Sunway – PUCHONG JAYA LIGHT RAIL TRANSIT is designed to be linked KTM KOMUTER so it is accesed directly to KUALA LUMPUR CITY CENTRE as it is helping to reduce the traffic problem incur by the city now. It is considered a substitution of bus services in the town in present and future.

 

            The length of the viaduct LRT bridge is going to build from BANDAR SUNWAY to BANDAR PUCHONG JAYA which comes with length of 6 kilometres. The elevated bridge span is going to assembly by prefabricated segments and it is construct by a specific equipment import from French that it is called The FREYSSINET 60T / 60M Launching Gantry ideals to erect the elevated section.
