COMPARISON AMONG VARIOUS TRUSS SYSTEMS

ABSTRACT

Trusses are framed elements that mostly used to support roof covering and carry wind loads. In this project, the main aim is to compare the cost for different types of roof trusses and form the cost analysis, determine the useful ratio for various truss systems. Besides that, we also interest in finding which type of truss gives more economical value.

The steps to achieve these purpose include:-

a) Analysis the trusses

b) Design the members

c) Determine the quantity of steel used

d) Calculate the cost

e) Repeat with different

i) dimensions

ii) types of trusses

From the quantity of steel used, we can estimate the cost of the truss. It depends on the market price and availability. For my case, I only need to calculate the total mass because the larger the weight, the expensive the truss will be.

Finally, the conclusions are made from the results of analysis and calculation.
