DESIGN OF MULTI-PURPOSE HALL

ABSTRACT

This type of project is suitable for the use of secondary schools and also built as a community hall. This is a simple-storey hall and will not be too expensive to build.

The hall can be used to carryout school activities such as indoor sports contest, debate and school concerts or community service. Besides that, the neighbors can also get together in this hall once every month to get know each other better. Besides holding activities in the hall, there will also be conference room, a waiting room and a meeting room on the first floor. In the conference room, there will be a meeting table with chairs, and a television.

The design in this project consist of the following steps and procedures. Firstly, find the ultimate loading act on the slab and calculate the area of reinforcement bar required. Secondly, the area reinforcement bar is found and the deflection when the slab loading act on the beam is checked.

Finally, determine the area reinforcement of column when the beam is supported by the column. In the design, the limit state and safety factor can be determine from the BS 6399.
