ABSTRACT

In this project, I have to design a 3-storey office complex that is located in a city with a good infrastructure. Of course, it consists of the ground floor, 1st and 2nd floor, and with two units on each floor. The dimension of each unit is 75’(22860mm) x 22’(13412mm) which consists of an office-space, two toilets and a storeroom. Among the three floors, the office-space on the ground floor should be smaller than that on the first floor and the second floor because the front part of the ground floor is designed as a corridor.

Each unit can be fit in about 25 people working together in a comfortable pace where two toilets are more or less enough. In addition, storeroom is provided for storing of stationery, excess tables and chairs or things that for future used.

The main designs for this building are the structural members of slabs, beams, columns, foundations, staircase, parapet and corridor. As forces are first transmitted from the slab to the beam, then to the column and finally carry by the foundations and transfer all the forces to the ground safely. Hence, I will start my design from the roof downwards to the foundation. The roof of this building is designed as a flat roof, which a simply a reinforced slab surrounded by the parapet. While for the open-well roof it is a pitch roof.
