DEVELOPMENT OF FLEXIBLE PAVEMENT DESIGN SOFTWARE BASED ON JKR’s CBR METHOD

ABSTRACT
The project that I’m doing is mainly is the study and design based project. As we can see the designing of the highway is mainly depend on the JKR’s ‘Manual On Pavement Design’. The whole idea of my project is to convert the manual instruction into the user-friendly software for easy usage. All the steps are referred to the JKR’s ‘<annual On Pavement Design’ that is a must or a guideline in designing.
The program that I’m using is Visual Basic version 6.0. This software can design the GUI which is the graphical user interface which can easily usage by the user instated of going thru complicated steps by using the manual.
As we can see, there is no software has been develop to be used by engineers nowadays. The main concept of the software is by using the existing VB language to design the window. The data or the information of the software is mainly depend on the manual it’s self. There is no modification of new research data been comply into the software. The user just has to enter the required information that the window prompts for, and the regarding information will be displayed on the next window. The results of the calculation will temporary stored and the final result will be displayed in table form at the and of the program. The user interface will be further discussed in the report that is attached.
I transform the design code into programming codes and link them to be in sequence. From this, users would have no problem in designing flexible pavement layer thickness. The calculation and the programming code are attached in the appendix. The manual and the relevant document regarding the design are also included in the appendix.
