WATER TREATMENT BY OZONATION PROCESS

ABSTRACT
In everyday life, water plays an important role. People use water in their personal lives for bathing and cleaning, recreating drinking, cooking, gardening, and just for the pleasure of watching it. A clean, constant supply of drinking water is essential to every community. People frequently drink water that comes from surface water sources, such as lakes, rivers, and reservoirs. So, water need to be treated. A water supplier takes untreated water from a river or reservoir, the water often contains contaminants. The most common drinking water treatment, considered by many to be one of the most important scientific advances of the 20th century, is disinfection. Most water suppliers add disinfectant to kill bacteria and other germs. One of the disinfection methods is ozonation.
The primary objective for this project is to study the process employed by ozonation to treat potable water. So, the information on ozonation is being found out and explained in this project. The advantages and disadvantages of ozonation are compared with some other disinfection methods especially chlorination. The information provided is aims to imposed knowledgs in water treatment by ozonation process.
