ABSTRACT

Tilt-up concrete construction, which began in southern California in the late 1950s as an economical and fast way to construct concrete walls for warehouses, has become today a multi-billion dollar industry, accounting for over 10,000 buildings annually.

It is now used for shopping centers, distribution facilities, warehouse, manufacturing plants, office buildings, prisons, schools, churches and nearly every type of one-to four- story building. According to a survey by the TCA, over 300 million square feet tilt-up buildings were constructed in 1999.

This report would guide you to understand the whole conceptual and handle of tilt-up system in designing and construction. If is hoped that this overall picture of tilt-up design consideration and construction will result in fuller and better use of the method.
