ABSTRACT

This project is intended primarily to serve as a subject for the undergraduate Civil Engineering students to complete their Diploma in Civil Engineering program. The objective of this project is to expose the project student to the process of Engineering design management and practices through the appropriate use of skills and knowledge learned throughout the Program.

The title of this project is “A study into the structural strength of concrete by using crushed glasses”. This project is conducted regarding the use of crushed gasses on concrete mix proportion. The main objective of this project is to study the compressive strength of concrete by using crushed glasses for structural concrete use. Therefore, laboratory work is conducted to study the compressive strength of concrete by replacing the fine and coarse aggregate with crushed glasses. The results obtained from laboratory work are tabulated in tables and charts.

Besides that, the primary objective is to study more about the alkali-silica reaction (AAR) which is Alkali-Silica Reaction (ASR) and how it affects the concrete.
