WATER TREATMENT FOR DOMESTIC USE

ABSTRACT

 

            Water plays an important role in everyday life. People use water in their personal lives for bathing and cleaning, recreating, drinking cooking, gardening, and just for the pleasure of watching it. A clean, constant supply of drinking water is essential to every community.

 

            Common water sources come for municipal supplies are deep wells, shallow wells, rivers, natural lakes and reservoir. Most of these natural waters are not able to conform to the requirements for the acceptable values. Thus, raw water will need treatment before the water can be used for human consumption.

 

            In water treatment, there are various types of processes and sequences involves. In this project, study is done mainly on the processes to treat potable water. The various processes that are commonly involves in this method of treating water are coarse and fine screening, grit removal, aeration, chemical mixing, coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, adsorption, fluoridation and disinfection. So, the information on these is being found out and explained in this project. The information provided is aims to impose knowledge in water treatment processes.
