DESIGN OF TIMBER BRIDGE

ABSTRACT

This project report is intended primarily to serve as a subject for undergraduate civil student to complete their diploma in civil engineering. The main purpose of project course is to enable the students to do designs, researches, analysis and making decision on a given project title based on the knowledge that they have gained so far.

Upon the successful completion of this project course, students will have to apply a range of techniques for generating, evaluating and selecting design concepts to meet specified requirements. It also helps the students to have better understanding the nature of Engineering Design Concept and acquired of interpersonal skills.

This project report is suitable for those novice readers who are interested and have no ideas on designing timber bridge for pedestrian purpose. This report is concentrated on designing a simply supported timber bridge with the design procedures and engineering drawings are attached.

This report also can be used as reference and guideline to those who prefer to design other types of Timber Bridge such as glue-laminated timber bridge.
