DEVELOPMENT OF A NEW INTERLOCKING HOLLOW BLOCK UNIT

ABSTRACT

This project is mainly about the development of interlocking hollow block unit. The purpose of my project is to develop the new interlocking hollow blocks. The work has been commenced with collecting literature view on the above topic. Good idea is collected how to start the trial of developing depending on factors of structural behavior, physical, properties, interlocking mechanism and construction properties.

This project consists of 9 trial of interlocking hollow block; each shape of the interlocking hollow block is mentioned out their physical and structural properties, interlocking properties, advantages and disadvantages of the block. Besides that, this project attached with three dimensions drawing of each trial to show out how the blocks are to be assembled and attached with two dimensions drawing of each trial to show out how they can be interlocked to each other. Some calculation about the bearing area, weight and void ratio are mentioned at the appendix part.

This project also includes the photograph about the mould and model of the interlocking hollow block.
