ABSTRACT

This project is assigned to me in order to let me expose to the process of Engineering management and practices through the appropriate use of skills and knowledge learned throughout the programme. This project is a compulsory and stand-alone course that must be completed for the completion and graduation of Diploma in Engineering. The project title “Various Types of Coastal Protection Structures” is given to me by my supervisor Ms. Susan Chong at the end of semester 5 and based on this title, I have to do a lot of studies and search for any related information on the various types of coastal protection structures.

The project title is well analyzed and the definition of the project is well defined when I first start off the project. The specific requirement of the project is determine and the scope of the title are listed out in order to keep the project right on track. Studies of the factors or considerations of selecting protection structure are important; studies the uses and effectiveness of different types of protection structure is also essential.

My contribution to the project is to collect and search for as many information as I can through various approach. This effort had helped me to understand deeper for the project title and enable me to complete the project on time. A more detail of works that had been carried out with respect to time is shown in Chart A.1.
