ABSTRACT

Wireless networking has hit the mainstream, and it just gets better and better. Nowadays, with wireless enabled portable computers, PDA, Mobile phone, pocket PC, Photo smart camera, peoples can roam their office, home or even a park and still be connected to e-mail, to the web, and access to shopping centers anytime, anywhere. The benefits of wireless connectivity seem endless, regardless of what type of user you are. With the expanding usage of the system, it could be used to the advantage of policemen in our country to efficiently reduce and control crime. By using the system, police on patrol can access the particulars of people with a criminal record, as well as registered numbers of stolen vehicles kept in the police databank. Through this method, the police can find all the information they need without calling to the headquarters for the required confirmation or information before action could be taken. Photographs of criminals and stolen vehicles can be accessed and reviewed by the system. Beside this, the system can also be used to take reports from witnesses of crime or to make a report of crime that has just occurred nearby. This will help the police in their daily duties enormously. A detailed study will be carried to determine the suitable wireless network technology to be used in this project.
