A STUDY ON STREAMING TECHNOLOGY TO PROVIDE LIVE STOCK MARKET UPDATES FOR MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS

ABSTRACT

 

            This project aims to carry out an exhaustive study on how information can be accessed and retrieved in a wireless environment through GPRS. It investigates the problem and techniques of implementing mobile application in a business environment. In this system, live stock market data will be streamed into a mobile phone and continuously updated at 3-5 seconds interval. Stock movements for the current week will also be available via graphs displayed on the mobile phone. The system will be implemented in a simulated environment where the live data will be generated on a server to mimic actual stock movement. This is because JKLSE does not allow free transfer of actual stock market data for research purposes. This simulation would be available for use nationwide due to GPRS services available throughout Malaysia. The system aims to fully utilize the newly available GPRS service and to render the existing SMA based stock report systems, which has obsolete. GPRS allows much higher data transfer at much lower cost; therefore this system harnesses it and aims to pass this cost savings down to consumers whilst offering much value added services.
