IMPLEMENTATION OF LAN (LOCAL AREA NETWORK) BASED FILE SEARCHING AND TRANSFERRING ENGINE

ABSTRACT

A search engine in the LAN environment is being developed. The main purpose of this project is to allow the users to search for files in the LAN environment and downloaded them to its own computer. This program first distributes the message of the wanted file to all the clients in the network, and the client program will automatically search for that file in their computer. If the file is found, an acknowledgement will be send back to the sender’s computer to indicate that the file has been found, otherwise no acknowledgement will be replied to the user. The user may receive as many acknowledgements from many clients but the user can select any one of the clients to download the file provided that there is still connection between the 2 computers.
