ABSTRACT
This project aims to study on the concepts of Knowledge-Based System (KBS), including knowledge acquisition and representation techniques, inference techniques, and other aspects that are required to develop a route planner prototype for a region in the Kuala Lumpur city capable of providing tourists the directions to travel on road from one place to another place in the city. The user is to input the starting and ending (destination) location. The system will then display the alternative ways to reach the destination and suggest an optimal path based on some criteria such as minimum distance. This prototype limits the places user can choose to places of interest and popular landmarks within a selected area range of the city. The tools/ programming language to be considered in developing this prototype is such as Java, Visual Basic, and Prolog.
