ABSTRACT

Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) is a library or tool that is used in developing mobile applications for a PDA. It is basically a platform that enables the developer to develop advance applications that vary from home usage to businesses, applicable to mobile devices with minimum memory or resources requirements. It delivers the power and benefits of Java technology to consumer and embedded devices. By using this technology, the developer can build attractive applications for mobile devices which have high value in the market. This project would focus on studying J2ME technology as well as developing an English dictionary application with a thesaurus feature that can be used in daily life such as in office or during traveling. Instead of focusing on J2ME technology, the project would also be focused on the usage and the importance of thesaurus. The application later would be stored and run on a Java enabled PDA with MIDP support
