Digital image processing is a rapidly evolving field with growing applications in Science and Engineering. The aim of this special study project is to develop software, which allows the users, an access to certain variety of computer imaging operations and to provide a platform for the exploration of these operations by allowing the users to give values to parameters and observe the results almost in real time. The name of the application is suggested as G.I.P.S, which stands for Generic Image Processing Software. G.I.P.S is designed using Java. G.I.P.S is platform independent and has successfully tested in windows. G.I.P.S is a multithread application suitable for processing images in parallel. Many image-processing algorithms have been employed in G.IP.S Equal importance has been given to design of GUI as well as image processing algorithms.
