A STUDY ON SMART MONITORING AND MAINTENANCE AGENT BY USING .NET FRAMEWORK

ABSTRACT
This project is done with the intentions of constructing smart agents that reside on the client’s machine, monitoring the network, software and hardware, hence collecting their information when required. Then, using the information collected, it can perform maintenance tasks on the computer. Maintenance tasks in this context, covers software and hardware, where it can detect any unknown software which is installed, check virus definitions, check when the user last scanned his computer for viruses, perform scans and defragmentation on hard drives in a regular basis, clean up hard drives when the resources are running low and several regular tasks performed by the network administrator ob the client’s computer such as shutting down, starting up, rebooting, power-off and logging off. These small maintenance tasks are vital, where it leads to prolonging the life-span of the computers. In the long run, the company owning the network can save a large sum of money, where previously used on performing all the maintenance tasks of repairing and purchasing new equipments.
