ABSTRACT
This project conducts a research to introduce the world of mobile devices and gadgets to those who are non-technology savvy. The study briefly explains the types of devices available, then focuses on PDAs and their types. Also included is the technology of developing software and applications for a PDA. An in depth literature review was conducted to find out the latest updates and enhancements available for PDA software development. This includes the types of software packages needed, the types of hardware which are able to support such development, and the various challenges and demands of mobile software development. The project also reports on the problems and techniques of developing mobile application. The literature review was done to support the development and design of an application based on the Palm OS. The application produced in this project is a Restaurant Food Ordering System which seeks to efficiently manage the process of taking down customer orders, handling orders for cooks and cashier, and payment facilities. The system allows PDA to exchange data with the computer by integrating two different applications- one running on the PDA and the other on the computer.
