ABSTRACT

This project explore the concept of agent technology in the development of software agents. There are many types of software agents, for example task performing agents, intelligent agents, network agents and mobile agents, all bearing different functions and capabilities from the other. The concept of agent technology is to develop a program that is autonomous in nature, and which can perform task require by the user. This agents normally work on the background when something triggers it to perform the tasks. The type of agents for this project, that is the mobile agent is an active program that can choose when and to where it will migrate itself to another computer and continue its execution in the destination. Here this project aims to develop agent s for messaging and file sharing application. It integrates the concept of messaging and file sharing applications. It integrates the concept of messaging and file sharing in distributed computing systems within the mobile agent concept. The mobile agent will enable the messaging and file sharing application to be easily migrated and accessed by remote computers. The advantages of mobile agents over other forms of messaging and file sharing methods will be emphasized.
