ABSTRACT

This special study project address issue on system resources capturing with aid of an intelligent agent, which provides remote access and administration features. It focuses on the analysis of agents and its use for the purpose of remote network access and administration. The agent would enable the computer to respond back to the server for reporting purposes. It researches new methods or techniques or remote resources capturing and also remote network administration. Ultimately, the project aims to aid administrators in monitoring the resources on a remote computer and solve issues of software piracy. The application produced by the author utilizes the new trend in the computing world. The application can be ported to become web-based in the near future, in line with the release of Visual Studio 7, as the application utilizes the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) aspects of the Web-based Enterprise Management (WBEM). The resource capturing capabilities of the system utilizes the WMI functions, using the WMI scripting API through Visual Basic. With all the underlying concepts and knowledge sourced, the author will develop a prototype that will be able to capture system resources from remote computers with the aid of an agent and WMI using Visual Basic.
