ABSTRACT

This project focuses on the study and development of an Active Server Page (ASP) based chat room using Macromedia Flash 4.0 user interface with Interchangeable Background Graphics function. This application supports chat rooms and also some password-protected rooms for those whom seek for privacy. Other than that, user’s chat session can also be saved as a transcript and stored in the hard drive. It also has the ability to show facial expressions to other users, where the user would be able to let other people in the chat room to see a smiling or a sad face and other expressions when they are chatting. As for the security, operators in the chat room will be able to ban the users that have offended the rules set in a particular chat room. Finally, this project also helps save some of their storage space because they can easily access in at the website and they would not have to download and even install the software.
