AN IMPLEMENTATION OF HOSPITAL INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND TO DEMONSTRATE USE OF PERSONAL DIGITAL ASSISTANT (PDA) FOR CHILDREN WARD IN SEREMBAN GENERAL HOSPITAL

This project investigates issues related to wireless networking technologies of personal digital assistant. This project will help users to get information and records portability and increase the staff’s productivity. It can help users to manage, receive, send, update and search the hospital information and records by using a PDA. This project will cut down paper work or manual-based operation. It allows patient records and documentation to be more accessible, simpler and easier to manage. Communications between users will be more efficiently and convenient. There are four potential users which are doctors, nurses, laboratory testers, and management staffs. For doctors, they can view patient records, working schedule, appointment schedule, make prescription directly to pharmacy, retrieve patient diagnostic condition and receive laboratory result. For nurses, they can view working schedule, types of medicine to be taken by patient, referral letter and prescriptions. For laboratory testers, they need to know about working schedule and send the laboratory result to doctors. For management staffs, they can manage patient billing records and all the records of a specified department.
