ABSTRACT

WAP serves as a bridge between the mobile world and the Internet or corporate Intranet. It is a global standard stated for wireless application providing impact same as the arrival of PC where Internet going mobile. WAP aims to provide independent of wireless network standard which open to all. Wireless devices represent the ultimate constrained device with limited CPU, memory and battery life, and a simple user interface. Limitations relating to wireless networks include low bandwidth, high latency and unpredictable availability and stability. For business purposes, they have the right to have instant access to corporate Intranet when they are out of office. WAP is a great tool for offering business-generating services to the consumer. For the end-user mobile access provides a secure access to highly personalize, relevant information more conveniently. Not only is this trend likely to remain in the near future but it will accelerate, according to current forecasts. A recent report issued by the Strategic Group predicts that by the end of this year, the number of wireless subscribers will exceed 500 million and will go beyond the one billion marks by 2005. At that time, a substantial portion of mobile devices on the market will have multimedia capabilities – including the ability to retrieve e-mail and push-and-pull information from the global network. According to WAP Forum Research, 75% of all cellular phones will be Internet-enabled by then.
