It was decided to name this software “Mail Express” or MEX. The features that will be designed for MEX include the ability to support POP3, SMTP and IMAP4 mail protocols. In another words, MEX will able to send electronic mail via the SMTP server and receive mail from either a POP3 or IMAP4 server. Beside the basic functionality, MEX will be designed to be attractive and has user friendly Graphical User Interface (GUI) in the sense that it’s such an ease to use that users won’t need any user manual to operate it. With MEX users will be able to view and save attachments from within MEX, able to search LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) directories. LDAP is an Internet Protocol that email program use to look up contact information from a server. In another words, it’s a gigantic online phonebook. Other features that MEX has included are; filters for managing email, presentation filters for visually organizing emails, address book facility, and addressing integration with auto-complete in composer.
