ABSTRACT

The general packet radio service (GPRS) is a new non-voice value added services that allows information to be sent and received instantly ( about three times as fast as the data transmission speeds possible over today’s fixed telecommunications network and ten times as fast as current Switched Data services on GSM networks) across a mobile telephone network. GPRS technology allows mobile phones to be used for sending and receiving data over the Internet Protocol (IP) – based network. In other words the mobile phone acts as a modem. GPRS as such is a data bearer that enables wireless access to data networks like the Internet. The applications using GPRS are WAP, MMS, SMS, Java and PC dial-up. In this project, a special application so-called Easy GPRS would be developed to facilitate GPRS subscriber to access Internet via computer for sending/ receiving an email as well as organize their data in a mobile phone. The EasyGPRS acts as a driver between a hand phone and the computer. Features of the application are to manage contact lists such as exchanging contact list between hand phone and PC, adding in a new entries, editing, deleting, manage the incoming and outgoing SMS such as replying, forwarding, deleting, creating a new message.
