ABSTRACT

This project aims to design and implement windows-based file sharing and instant messaging system. The system will be implemented using peer-to-peer networking architecture that allows users to transfer files directly between the clients. Some of the key features that include in this program are file sharing and transferring, with instant messaging capability. A centralized server will keep track of all available files and provides clients the ability to search the index of available files. The file sharing and transferring system will include the sending of file(s) to multiple hosts at once. The users can specify the files they want to share with other users. When user has logon to the system, they can search for the shared files listed by other people. In addition, the system allows users to interact with other users who are connected to the network by sending instant messages. The main purpose of developing this new peer to peer system is provide an easy-to-set-system for file sharing, publishing, and interacting.
