This project outlines major features of the applications in Macromedia Director, the best-selling multimedia authoring program. It focuses on the potential of Macromedia Director to the teaching of music purposes. It further develops a multimedia music book with user-friendly interface, which covers all the basics a beginner needs to know about piano. The multimedia music book will provide users step-by-step video lessons, pieces, and chords to practice, complete guide to reading music and piano history information about famous pianist. Ultimately, this project aims to reduce papers and to provide piano lessons to beginners in an easy way. This project is using Macromedia Director 7 as the gathering tool to develop the multimedia music book application. It is a good multimedia-authoring tool that enables an application to be developed easier, after comparing with other authoring software. Besides this software, other software are also used such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premier, Adobe Image Styler, Flash 4, Ulead Cool 3D and Paint Shop Pro in developing the system.
