DEVELOPMENT OF A WEB-BASED INTERACTIVE ELECTRONIC TEXTBOOKS (IET) FOR PRIMARY SMART SCHOOLS

This project aims to develop an Intranet based interactive electronic textbook for standard six in primary smart schools. The Interactive Electronic Textbooks (IET) will be equipped with images, video, sound and even quizzes or exercises, so that information can be presented in a more interesting manner than the traditional textbooks. The objectives of developing IET are to solve the problem of heavy school bag and provide an interesting learning environment for the students. The textbooks will be stored in the school server where every student has their own smart card’s ID to log in and retrieve their textbooks accordingly. Further investigation will be conducted to get the response from the teachers, students and headmasters on the implementation of IET. IET can reduce the costs and time spent on updating textbooks since the network is centralized and the cost is only per PC basis, and PCs can be used for multiple classes in many years to come.
