ABSTRACT
This project addresses issue on why the visual learning style of teaching is more effective than manual teaching system in stimulating the interest of learning for college students. Today, college students dislike boring lectures because some lecturers are unable to stimulate their interests in learning especially for technical subjects. Therefore, this project aims to solve this problem by creating a visual learning application on Local Area Network (LAN) called “Smart Learning on LAN”. LAN is chosen as a subject because it has been widely used in many organizations’ networks. Students, especially computing students should understand the structure of LAN in order to cope with today’s technology. “Smart Learning on LAN” is created and presented in multimedia form. It includes animation, diagrams and sound. These elements in the application help to stimulate the interest of learning of the students. With attractive interfaces, students would be attracted and keen to try and learn through the visual learning application. Moreover, “Smart Learning on LAN” helps to increase the students’ understanding on LAN. It focuses on the design of the application that is presented in the multimedia form.
