AN ADVANCED UTILITY TO ENHANCE WINDOWS 95/98 OPERATING SYSTEM

ABSTRACT

 

            This special study project study the function of the registry in the Windows 95/98 Operating System. After studying and analyzing, an application based on the concept of registry will be developed. This application will enhance the operating system, the security area, performance and configuration. This special study project consists of 10 objectives. The first objective is to investigate and understand the role structure of the registry. This is the basic knowledge that must known in order to develop an application that is related to the registry. For the second objective, the potential problem of the registry and registry protection and recovery will be analysed. The techniques of registry modification will then be studied with further investigation on how the registry can control the hardware, network and users. The entire registry keys in the Windows 95/98 will be investigated, and a proposed system will be designed. The proposed system will be developed using the Object-oriented programming language. An evaluation will be conducted for the proposed system application in order to obtain feedback from the potential users. The proposed system will be enhanced based on the recommendations of the users and the last objective is to produce a final documentation, which involves the compilation of all the objective reports.
