A STUDY ON SMART SCHOOL TECHNOLOGY INFRASTRUCTURE AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF A NETWORKED SMART SCHOOL APPLICATION OR HIGHER LEARNING INSTITUTIONS

ABSTRACT

 

            This project will focus on the study of smart school or e-education concepts, technology and the development of a networked smart school application based on its result. A background study on the architecture design of Malaysian Smart school concepts as well as the available technology including its underlying problems and issues will be conducted. The application to be developed will be a networked smart school application that can be implemented in a higher learning institution. The application will enable lecturers too conduct classes from their offices and students will be able to study from their rooms. Parents will be able to check on the students’ progress as well as contact the necessary lecturers. This application will be a supplement to traditional learning system and will also address the vision of having smart schools in Malaysia. Lectures can be conducted via live chat sessions or by uploading coursework materials into the system itself. Students need to be enrolled into the Affiliate College or university before being able to sign up of access to the system. This entire documentation will cover all the phases of the system’s development. This of course will comprise of the preliminary studies phase in which the author will be addressing the smart school concepts and technological architectures; the discussed; the development phase and user interface designs will be followed by the implementation phase where an initial prototype will be developed system will be tested by the author as well as evaluated by the potential end user; and finally the suggestions for enhancements.
