This project basically deals with a thorough study and research on Extensible Markup Language (XML) being implemented in the commercial world. The main aim here is to determine whether it is viable of feasible to implement XML-based business and electronic-commerce web applications. A research was carried out on the existing Markup Languages namely SGML and HTML. Their implementation and contributions are analysed, besides determining their limitations. After that, a study on the concepts and components of XML was done to get a good grip on XML in detail. After determining the design specifications, the author is now prepared to perform web programming as part of the development process.
