Expert systems have experienced tremendous growth and popularity since their commercial introduction in the early 180s. For this special study project, a programming language like prolog and visual basic was used to develop the expert system, which demonstrate the expert systems theory and programming in self-diagnostic common sickness expert system. This project is divided into 5 parts which are the overview of an expert system, the role of expert system in self-diagnostic system, expert system’s development tools, suitable tools and techniques for the system and lastly the suitable tools and techniques for the system to shows the common sickness.
