ABSTRACT

The purpose of this research is to know in-depth on how intrusion detection works. The basic architecture of an intrusion detection system and also the techniques used for intrusion detection. The research also covers the study on various intrusion detection products available in the market. Other objective of this project is to implement the prototype. The basic scope of this project is to study about what intrusion detection is, how it function and the architecture of it. The major part of this project is to develop a real-time prototype intrusion detection system that will detect intrusions attempted by another computer in a Local Area Network. Various kinds of Trojans will also studied to test it with the prototype developed.
