ABSTRACT

This project focuses on developing a local web cache system to reduce network data redundancy. It acts as a filter or an intermediate medium between the Internet browser and the Internet. The system centralizes the web cache by storing them in a cache folder> the request from the Internet browser is passed to the proxy server. The system will then determine whether the requested files exist in the temporary internet files. If the files exist, return the located files from the temporary internet folder to the internet browser instead of requesting the file from Internet. The system will also clean all user temporary internet file to free the storage reosource.This project will use Window service to perform bakground processing and handle the internet browser’s requests.
