SMART-CARD BASED LABORATORY ACCESS CONTROL SYSTEM IN CLIENT-SERVER ENVIRONMENT

ABSTRACT
This project addresses issues on how to devise an easier way to control the access to laboratories in INTI College by making use of smart card. It focuses on the development of a system which makes use of smart card together with the input of account number and password to give students access to the laboratories in a multi-user environment. A main database is used to check the data read by the smart card reader. The project researches methods on how to make use of smart card kit in the development of this project and on the types of smart cards available. Ultimately, this project aims to solve problems usually encountered when dealing with problem, for instance, which person can access which laboratories and also when dealing with monitoring problems. Hence, the project sought solutions on how to give access and how to monitor students in INTI College laboratories in a more sophisticated way. This project will lead to a new laboratory called the smart-card based laboratory.
